This second volume of Sanford's autobiography begins with his voyage to England in 1927 and follows his development as a writer during the Depression. It has a lengthy section detailing Sanford's summer writing in the Adirondacks with Nathanael West. The book ends with his boarding a train for California in 1936, after he has been offered a screenwriting contract by Paramount Studios in Hollywood. |
