Instructions for Social Balance Experiment


This is a study of social judgment. Your task is to read descriptions of how you feel towards Bill and how much Bill likes John, and judge or estimate how much you think you would like John. Make your judgments of liking of John on the following 9-point scale:
1=dislike very very much
2=dislike very much
3=dislike
4=dislike slightly
5=neutral (neither like nor dislike)
6=like slightly
7=like
8=like very much
9=like very very much
Please do the warmup trials below to get used to the rating scale, then do the trials that follow. For each trial, imagine the situation, and judge how much you think you will like JOHN.
