This task is Different: Now you match Gambles to Cash

Look at Gamble No. 1 below. Imagine a container that holds exactly 100 tickets. The tickets are all identical, but they have different cash prizes printed on them. You win the amount of money printed on the ticket.

The Gamble in this choice has 50 tickets that win $100 and 50 that win $0, so the probability to win $100 is .50 and the probability to get $0 is .50. If someone plays this gamble, half the time they will draw a ticket that pays $0 and half the time they will draw a ticket to win $100. But in this study, you only get to play a gamble once, so the prize will be either $0 or $100.

Instead of the gamble, you might have Sure Cash. Click on "choose from this list" and you will see cash values ranging from $0 to $99. Your task is to select the amount of cash that would be equally attractive as the gamble. In other words, if you had to choose between the cash and the gamble, you would like them equally well. You should select the amount of cash so that you would find it difficult to decide which you would rather have.

On May 20, 2009, after people have finished their choices, three people will be selected randomly to play one gamble for real money. Two gambles will be selected at random from the list. You get to play the one to which you assigned the higher cash value.
