Welcome!

I am a cognitive psychologist with interests in language and thought processes across the life span. These interests are reflected in my research (e.g., speed of mental processing and IQ , creativity , pragmatic aspects of language use ) and in the courses I teach.

I regularly teach Psychology 110: Reasoning and Problem Solving, Psychology 415: Cognitive Psychology, and Psycholinguistics which can be taken as either Psychology 417 or Linguistics 417.

When I’m not around the psychology department (which my wife and puppies think is too much of the time) you might find me at the at the Ruby Gerontology Center since I am the Gerontology Programs Coordinator.

Cognitive Cognitive psychology is the study of the mental processes associated with the processing, storage, and retrieval of information.
Cognitive psychologists look at the aspects of psychology that focus on such topics as how we think, remember, reason, use language, solve problems, and make decisions.

Psycholinguistics The goals of psycholiguistics is to develop an awareness of and appreciation of the role of language and communication in thinking and behavior. To understand basic psycholinguistic processes, issues, and principles. To develop the ability to think critically in the context of psycholinguistic theory and research.

Gerontology Gerontology, the study of aging, is a multidisciplinary field that examines the biological, economic, psychological, social and health/fitness aspects of the aging process. The unprecedented growth of the older population has created a growing demand for professionals in a variety of fields who understand issues related to the aging process.
