Catanzaro, S. J. (1994). Discrimination of mood regulation expectancies from dysphoria:
Confirmatory factor analytic findings. Assessment, 1, 53-58.
This validation study focused on discriminating depression, as measured by the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), from mood regulation expectancies measured by the Negative Mood Regulation (NMR) Scale. The study used a confirmatory factor analysis to show that the BDI and NMR Scale measure correlated but independent constructs. These findings support the discriminate validity of the NMR Scale from measures of depression, and enhance the construct validity of the NMR Scale.
