Dear Members, It is time for officer elections for the 2011-2012 year! Please read about the elections and positions if you are interested in becoming an officer. Those planning to go on to graduate study, are highly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to be heavily involved in SIRE. We would really like to have anthropology, psychology and biology represented this year!!

All nominations must be received by Friday, May 13th. (Details are below)

If you are interested in attending an officer meeting, the next meeting will be Friday, May 6th at 3pm in MH428. If you would like more information or have questions please email sire@fullerton.edu.

About Elections:

  • According to the SIRE bylaws officers are elected once an academic year. Elections are held at the end of each academic year for the following year’s term.
  • Nominees will be reviewed and votes will be cast by incumbent officers and the faculty advisor.
  • A candidate must receive at least 51% of the votes or if necessary runoff elections will be held.

Who can be nominated and serve as an officer?

  • Only members may be elected as officers.
  • Current officers may be nominated.
  • Nominations can be made by all members and members may nominate themselves for any position they feel qualified for. Nominees must submit a CV and statement of qualification to be reviewed by the officers.
  • The statement of qualification should be 250 words or less, and declare which position you would like to run and why you are qualified for the position. Because an officer position can at times be demanding, SIRE wants to ensure that officers have a solid understanding of their commitment, and are actively seeking to fulfill SIRE’s mission.
  • Nominees should be well qualified undergraduate or graduate students that will be able to serve for the entire 2011-2012 academic year.
  • Qualifications for President and Treasurer only as set forth by the CSUF.

The President and Treasurer of the student organization are required to meet the minimum requirements established for Minor Student Representative Student Officers by the CSU Chancellor’s Office.

  1. A. Officers must be matriculated and enrolled (non-extended education) at Cal State Fullerton.
  2. B. Officers must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 grade point average each term.
  3. C. Officers must be in good standing and must not be on probation of any kind.
  4. D. Undergraduates are required to earn six semester units per term while holding office. Graduate and credential students must earn three semester units per term while holding office.
  5. E. Undergraduate officers are allowed to earn a maximum of 150 semester units or 125 percent of the units required for a specific baccalaureate degree objective, whichever is greater. Graduate and credential officers are allowed to earn a maximum of 50 semester units or 167 percent of the units required for the graduate credential objective, whichever is greater.
